This Clinical Assistant will be responsible for:
- This position is 40 hours/week, 8 hour shifts
- Provides direct patient care to all ages of patients.
- Assists throughout the department to provide positive patient outcomes.
- This person is responsible for assisting nurses and surgical technologist in the preoperative, Operating Room and post anesthesia care unit, while providing exceptional treatment to patients with a variety of medical conditions.
- This critical role Performs various duties related to patient assistance, patient transportation and the cleaning of the Operating Rooms and perioperative area.
- Assists OR personnel with the picking of surgical cases, set-up of Operating Room procedures, turnover, and terminal cleaning of rooms at the end of the day.
- Assists OR personnel with obtaining, assembling and assuring the safety of the positioning equipment used on the operating table as needed.
- Cleans and sanitizes all Operating Rooms, ancillary rooms, and offices within specified areas.
- Assists with the maintenance and adequate inventory of surgical and anesthesia supplies.
- Transports specimens to the laboratory and patients, supplies and equipment as needed.
- Scheduling, receiving and/or registering patients, visitors and staff for appointments or procedures.
- Collecting, verifying and recording required information according to established procedures and instructions.
- Identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse.
- Answering, screening and routing telephone calls and performing general office support tasks.
- Assisting clinician during examinations (i.e. obtaining, measuring and recording routine information such as temperature and blood pressure, and performing other related duties according to specific needs of clinic).
- Location: 482 Bedford Street Lexington, MA 02420 This position will start in BCH Lexington and transition to BCH Needham upon completion of the ambulatory care building (anticipated to open late 2025).
- 1 year CA experience, CNA certification, Nursing Student with at least one clinical rotation, or relevant experience.
- HS Diploma or equivalent.
- The ability to: exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies and relay messages to appropriate personnel. This type of interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees.
- Good communication skills.
- The ability to work on a team.
