Summary
Intelligence Analysts assess complex information while working in conjunction with Special Agents, using information obtained during investigations along with data from the internet, open source checks, the Intelligence Community, and other agencies. Intelligence Analysts tackle intricate challenges with every assignment; however, you are not required to be a certain age, carry a firearm, or meet specific physical fitness requirements.

Duties
Review FBI communications to identify and evaluate the intelligence information therein.
Prepare and disseminate intelligence information while protecting sources and investigations through correct document classification and controls.
Communicate with various internal and external law enforcement and Intelligence Community(IC) members to gain a better understanding of sources, operations, missions, and requirements.
Basic analysis to include collation of raw, primary, and secondary data derived from various sources such as automated data base systems, operational intelligence reports, miscellaneous communications, case files, internal and external automation systems, and other sources.
May participate in interagency committees and meetings as representatives.
Evaluates incoming reports and information, and performs interpretations and projections under the guidance of senior analysts.
Prepares basic to complex descriptive and current reportorial intelligence reports to higher-level analysts and superiors in their assigned area of responsibility.
Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, executive orders, and directives promulgated by the Congress, Attorney General, and the Director of the FBI, to achieve goals and objectives.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must be able to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance.
Selectee will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 annually.
Selectee will be required to complete form FD-877, Request for Access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
Must have a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement (see Positive Education Requirement).
Must successfully pass a series of assessments, known as the IA Selection Process (IASP).
Must successfully complete the 12-week intelligence Basic Field Training Course (BFTC) at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. This is a full-time-in-residence program.
Must sign a mobility service agreement indicating your willingness to relocate to any field office, based on the needs of the FBI. Applicants will receive some moving expenses based on your new office assignment.
Must adhere to the two-year IA probationary period.
Qualifications
The first step to becoming an IA with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is successful completion of our in-house Basic Field Training Course (BFTC) that lasts 12 weeks in Quantico, VA. While at BFTC, you will have a location menu to rank all 56 Field Offices and Headquarters (HQ) Divisions in Washington D.C in order of preference. Placement will be determined based on your preferences and needs of the FBI.
Due to the extensive training requirement for the IA position, candidates who are placed into an IA role from this job opening will be required to complete 2 years in their first office of assignment before becoming eligible to apply to other positions in the FBI. If you do not pass BFTC, we will attempt to find placement, but if that is unsuccessful, it could result in removal from the FBI. You may be eligible for future consideration for positions in the 0132 series. Please review the IA Candidate Information Packet for further details.

Specialized Experience (SE):
GS 7: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 5 grade level. SE is as follows:
Communicates effectively orally and in writing.
Assists in the preparation of reports.
Utilizes databases to further research.
GS 9: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 7 grade level. SE is as follows:
Research, analyze and assemble pertinent facts into finished reports.
Utilize computer systems to receive and provide information using database/sources.
Apply collection methods and techniques/skills relevant to data collection/research.
Manipulate and exploit data systems to gather information analyze and report findings.
Education
This position has a specific minimum education requirement; all applicants must verify completion of this basic educational requirement by submitting a copy of their college transcripts by the closing date of the vacancy announcement. All degrees must be from an accredited college or university.
GS-7: Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or one (1) full year of graduate level education. Superior academic achievement is the completion of all the requirements of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average of 2.95 or higher as recorded on an official transcript, or as based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum, or (3) honor society membership.
GS-9: Applicant must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
