Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our team. As a Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately processing and submitting medical claims to insurance companies. Your role will involve ensuring timely reimbursement for services rendered and maintaining accurate billing records. Duties: - Review and verify patient information, medical records, and insurance coverage - Prepare and submit accurate claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail - Follow up on unpaid claims and denials, identifying and resolving any billing discrepancies - Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers regarding claim status and payment issues - Stay updated on medical coding systems, including ICD-9 and DRG coding - Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations - Collaborate with the billing team to streamline processes and improve efficiency - Assist with other administrative tasks as needed Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred - Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or related role - Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and insurance guidelines - Proficient in using medical billing software and electronic health record systems - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve billing issues effectively - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal - Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment Please note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
