Job Duties
- Responsible for timely billing and collection from Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH)
- Reviews remittances advices and correspondences to determine significant problems causing rejections or denials
- Remain current in regard to new billing requirements and inform agency staff of trends and changes
- Serves as a resource for agency staff regarding billing issues
- Coordinates with appropriate staff to collect data to create clean claims submission
- Prepares invoices, billings and vouchers according to specific written or verbal instructions
- Reconciles invoices, vouchers, inter-account bills and other financial documents utilizing basic arithmetical calculations
- Tracks and routes inaccurate and/or incomplete documentation through proper channels for corrections
- Perform audit trail checks on billing and invoice documents.
- Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, punctuality, dependability/reliability of system information while meeting deadlines.
Qualifications
- Possess a High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- A minimum of 3 years working experience in the areas of healthcare management systems or computerized billing systems.
- Advanced knowledge of healthcare billing terminology and payor portals.
- Medical coding/billing certification preferred
