Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists program coordinators, faculty, and students in the lab setting with meeting course objectives and integration of simulation into the curriculum.
- Utilizes instructional methods that promote the development of critical-thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and clinical competency for real life application.
- Works to ensure a positive and professional learning environment in the Simulation Lab setting.
- Collaborates with nursing course faculty in planning, designing, and organizing simulation activities to address the needs and schedule of the course.
- Works closely with faculty to provide student remediation in the lab setting.
- Serves as a resource for Allied Health program faculty in utilizing the Simulation Lab.
- Collaborates with the Assistant Dean of Nursing to review and update policies and procedures with an emphasis on continuous quality improvement.
- Develops and updates lab and clinical scenarios in the nursing programs based on student and faculty needs and reflective of current practice standards.
- Develops and provides training for new and continuing faculty at the beginning of each term to include lab equipment, curricular changes, specific software, and/or supplies to be used.
- Ensures safety and maintains OSHA standards with the Simulation Lab to include appropriate disposal of hazardous wastes and sharps.
- Monitors inventory and orders necessary supplies for the Simulation Lab.
- Conducts informational tours for external stakeholders in the virtual hospital setting.
- Participates in level, division, and college-wide committees.
- Serves as an academic advisor to students.
- Abides by the philosophy and policies of the College and affiliating agencies.
- Demonstrates professionalism, initiative, and self-direction.
- Maintains scheduled class times and office hours.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from institutions accredited by a regional accredited association recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Required Experience: Two years of nursing professional experience with evidence of competence as a practitioner in nursing.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: N/A
Required Licenses or Certifications: Unencumbered Louisiana R.N. license.
Preferred Education: Completion of a regional or national Clinical Simulation Instructor Course
Preferred Experience: Experience providing oversight of students in a Simulation Lab setting.
