Hyertek, a Washington, D.C. based technology services organization supporting U.S. Federal Government agencies, has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for an Instructional Designer.
The Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing and developing engaging, innovative, relevant, and impactful learning programs to support our Federal & Civilian clients. Learning materials will be designed for onsite, virtual, and e-Learning delivery. Programs will incorporate adult learning principles and reflect approaches that are appropriate to the audience. In this role, you will create learning materials for government and contract employees and will update and maintain them as needed.
Position: Instructional Designer
Location: Rockville, MD (Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with client and internal leadership, conduct needs analysis, task analysis, audience analysis, and focus groups to determine learning objectives and the appropriate instructional strategies and delivery methods for training requests.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts or internal team members to design, develop, and implement learning solutions that ensure mastery of learning objectives and learner retention.
- Outline and create evaluation and assessment strategies for learning solutions to include surveys, testing, and other measurement strategies.
- Create a variety of learning materials to include eLearning courses, micro-learning, demonstrations, simulations, videos, scenarios, case studies, exercises, workbooks, instructor and participant guides, PowerPoint decks, scripts, quick references, job aids, and knowledge checks.
- Create storyboards for e-learning courses to include scripts, scenarios, visuals, and interactive elements used to engage and enhance the learner experience.
- Develop e-Learning courses using Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, Storyline, and similar tools, and develops videos using Camtasia.
- Manage instructional content delivery in LMS platforms including Adobe Learning Manager and Moodle LMS
- Establish, influence, and communicate guidelines and recommendations for processes and procedures related to instructional design, content development, and project management.
- Provide feedback and recommendations on presentations to improve instructional delivery.
- Ensure all educational materials adhere to design standards.
- Prepare reports and perform administrative and other assigned duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Five to seven years' experience as an Instructional Designer/Developer in a corporate or consulting environment.
- Experience within the professional services industry with resultant knowledge of organizational behavior, adult learning principles, training, and development techniques.
- Previous experience in industries such as technology, legal, HR, and business operations management.
- Proficiency in Windows-based software and MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook with advanced design skills in PowerPoint.
- Excellent presentation skills to engage diverse audiences a plus.
- Experience implementing AI, gamification, and other trends in instructional design preferred.
- Knowledge of eLearning authoring tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, Rise, Storyline, etc.
- Hands-on experience in implementation and migration of content across LMS systems including Blackboard, Moodle and Adobe Learning Manager.
- Knowledge of LMS and SCORM settings.
- Knowledge of virtual training tools such as Teams, Google Hangouts, and Zoom, and familiarity with features used to engage learners.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Training, Human Resources, or other related field or equivalent in education and experience; Master's Degree in instructional design, education, or related field preferred.
