Instructional Designer
As a member of the Global Education and Member Services department, the Instructional Designer member is responsible for organizing information and creating learning materials that transform complex and unorganized information into professionally written, clear, interactive, and effective multimedia instructional material or courseware. This role supports the execution of IAAPA’s e-learning strategy of delivering IAAPA educational content using technology. This position is responsible for working with volunteers, internal, and external stakeholders to develop content that meets and exceeds member expectations.
Specific Duties:
- Works with leadership team to create the design document for each course
- Writes instruction content in storyboard format for initial approval from subject matter experts
- Meets regularly with subject matter experts to understand and translate technical jargon into straightforward concise information
- Ensures that clear and concrete learning objectives are documented for each course, and then reinforced at the course end
- Programs content from story boards into online learning software
- IAAPA Online Learning Portal Administration
- Develops activities and assessments for use in digital courses
- Identifies opportunities to increase the value of the on-line learning program
- Suggests revisions for the on-line learning pages on the website
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in eLearning / instructional design preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Familiar with instructional design principles and applications
- Experience creating educational content through concepts such as ISD, RCD, or SAM
- Familiar with the Articulate course authoring tools Storyline 360 and Rise 360
- Experience within the attractions industry (amusement park, water park, zoo, aquarium, museum, science center, family entertainment center, supplier or manufacturer) preferred.
- Highly organized and proficient attention to detail skills
- Superior communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Advanced skills with Microsoft office
- Proven ability to meet deadlines
- Proven experience prioritizing and balancing multiple, on-going high-profile projects
- Self-motivation and the ability to work with little supervision
