Job Title:Curriculum & Instructional Design
General Purpose of Job:
The Curriculum & Instructional Design position includes developing content, framework(s), and the Instructional Design for ROOTS Education CO. In addition, as the company grows, assisting with the development and integration of the learning methodology, certification, and LMS/CMS, while ensuring effective and efficient use for staff and customers. The ideal candidate will work closely with subject matter experts (SME’S) to design and develop a curriculum that complements each ROOTS Kit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following statements reflect the general details necessary to describe the major functions of this position and are not intended to be a detailed description of all the work/functions that may be required. Other duties may be assigned.
- The curriculum writer will take needs and translate them into a well-outlined curriculum that meets the specified format and standards
- Contribute to the creation of modules that build knowledge and make connections to other disciplines as needed
- Embrace and exemplify a mindset that values an iterative cycle of ideation, thought partnering, prototyping, drafting, development, review, and revision
- Adhere to a deadline-driven workflow by completing the appropriate scope and sequence of work within the timeline required at each phase
- Assists in the service of products and customer support ensuring that customer satisfaction is met at 100%
- Maintaining positive and trust-based relationships with business partners, shareholders, and authorities
- Collaborate within and across teams to develop curriculum and curriculum-support content that meets the needs of the program
- Complete the appropriate scope and sequence of work within the timeline required at each phase
- Ability to design impactful learning experiences for various delivery environments, both synchronous and asynchronous
- Ability to transform complex topics into simple, concise, and clear learning solutions
- Communicate clearly within and across all teams
Education and/ or Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, related field or equivalent education and experience required
- 5 plus years of ADDIE/SAM or similar Instructional Design methodology
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver on-time results
- At least five years of experience in Career and Technical Education (CTE) or similar role
- At least 5 years’ experience as a curriculum writer
- Experience in both in-person and virtual curriculum development
- Knowledge of culturally responsive curriculum development
- Experience implementing Instructional Design practices and course improvement models
- At least three years’ experience producing technical writing
- Excellent communication, and presentation skills
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to excel in high-pressure situations and work under strict deadlines
SKills:
- Advanced design skills in Photoshop, Articulate 360 (Rise and Storyline), Camtasia, LMS, Graphic Design, Video Creating, Voice Overs and Graphic Design
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to travel
