INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER
JOB SUMMARY:
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for developing, evaluating, and tracking efficient systems and labor plans that integrate operators, equipment, materials, and information. This role will manage and maintain time developing and using a standard time library. Support production and new programs on labor calculations. Resolve issues with quality, operation, manufacturability, or build process steps.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate and develop methods and cycle times to streamline production or assembly processes.
  • Perform detailed video-based time studies using company software to maximize or increase efficiency and assist in quoting future projects.
  • Continually seek ways to eliminate wastefulness to save time, money, effort, or all these factors on future and existing production lines for labor Optimization.
  • Review and propose solutions on engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods that are applied and activities that take place in manufacturing.
  • Devise how to assemble parts or products to meet required (quoted) labor standards goals.
  • Develop detailed operator cycle time required for the manufacturing plans on new programs.
  • Develop and maintain companywide standard times to make financial planning and cost analysis more efficient (Before, during and after a new program launch).
  • Assist to resolve production problems or minimize costs.
  • Design control systems to coordinate activities and production planning to ensure that products meet quality standards.
  • Act as liaison with Manufacturing Engineers about product specifications and with plant team members about the status of improvement projects.
  • Document best practices, lessons learned to drive improvement into new production processes being developed.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Just in Time (JIT) strategizing, and Android operations (Sequencing / Subassembly, shipping and receiving).
  • Prepare equipment operators by assisting the launch team with training; providing reference and support resources.
  • Monitor / Support plant with equipment installation and launch.
  • Monitor and improve OEE metrics at our facilities and our benchmarks.
  • Provide feedback, guidance, and support to ensure that the resultant assembly processes, tooling and equipment will improve throughput, scrap/rework reduction, reduce cost, and improve quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineer to drive Quality (PFMEA, Reverse PFMEA, Control Plan, Error-proofing plan) back into the design of the assembly processes and equipment to ensure a robust Manufacturing System is delivered to the Plant that meets quality and engineering standards.
  • Maintain process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
  • Participate in adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency.
  • Promote health and safety in all phases of engineering and launch.
  • Protect organization value by keeping information confidential, cautioning others regarding potential breaches.
  • Maintain equipment records by filing documents, updating equipment and labor database.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and have a positive attitude.
  • Effectively interact with, lead, and develop people.
  • All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s in engineering or Industrial Engineering.
  • 3+ years’ experience in assembly and/or manufacturing.
  • Experience in the manufacturing field and new programs is preferred.
TRAVEL:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skillswhere problems are unusual and difficult.
  • Data analytics skills and experience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Understanding of ergonomics requirements and evaluations.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts, experience on application desired.
  • Organizational, planning, and documentation skills.
  • Proficient at using presentation software and presenting complex information to non-technical management personnel, Assembly Line Team Members and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Past use of time study software or tools a plus.
  • Certification MTM, MOST standards or MODAPTS a plus
  • AutoCAD experience plus.
  • Proficient with process diagrams, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all team members – manufacturing, engineering, executive leadership, etc.
  • High level computer skills to include Windows applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
