Our diverse team of engineers and machinists play a crucial role in transforming our facilities through implementing the adoption of ground-breaking technologies.
Responsible for organizing, managing and teaching GMS (Lean Manufacturing) in a classroom environment, coaching GMS jointly on the floor at all levels of the organization, analyzing complex manpower, material, machine and floorspace requirements. Assignments are of a difficult nature involving a considerable amount of creativity and initiative.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
GMS (Global Manufacturing Systems)
Drive GMS and Lean Manufacturing implementation
Establishes build process for new programs, working with a joint team of hourly and salary Team Members
Teach and coach GMS principles in the classroom and on the floor
Assists in establishing and recommending operational methods and work standards using various measurement techniques to create standardized work
Analyzes existing operations and proposes cost justified improvements
Analysis and problem solving related to throughput improvement
Provides information for various management systems
Regular contact with others outside the work group
Assist in the continuous improvement of the production system using GMS and Lean Manufacturing principles.
Monitors adherence to recommended safety procedures and good housekeeping
Industrial Engineering
Optimizes use of floor space, materials, personnel and equipment
Assists in planning new facilities, operations and/or relocation of same
Develops, analyzes, and presents project information
Coordinates implementation of projects
Develops programs for effective cost control
Conducts special studies such as job cycle times, manpower associated with new content, sourcing, etc…
Integrate safety into the mainstream of all business practices
Analyze floor operations and implement continuous improvement ideas to completion in an environment where the standard GM tools sometime will not fit
This position is 100% work onsite in Pontiac, MI (with some time to interface in Warren, MI)
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Ergonomics engineering or 5 to 10 years equivalent training and experience
High level of implementation of GMS / Lean Manufacturing strategies and initiatives
Knowledge of work measurement, work standards, and time study methodology
Knowledge of manufacturing (machining & tooling) and assembly processes
Willing and able to teach in a classroom environment & shop floor environment
High level of creativity in finding solutions where no template exists
Solid understanding of GMS Principles, ability to coach principles through execution
Ability to work with minimal guidance to analyze and implement new processes
Ability to work with joint partners in the UAW
AutoCAD
High level of oral and written communication skills, analytical ability where the problems are complex and interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Masters degree preferred
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications.
