Job Description
The Immigration Legal Assistant is responsible for processing non-immigrant and immigrant visas, renewals, and applications for permanent residence into the US including coordination with outside counsel.
Job Qualifications
- Proficiency in English and Mandarin is required. Cantonese is a plus.
- Experience: Legal - 1 year (Preferred, not required)
- Education: High school or equivalent (preferred)
- Demonstrate a team-oriented collaborative work style
- Self-motivated, ability to work and handle cases independently
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills with attention to detail
- Excellent hands-on computer skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and utilize critical thinking skills
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro, etc.
Job Responsibilities
- Preparation, processing, and filing of all petitions and applications for EB-1A, EB1C, EB-2 NIW, L-1A, EB-5, H-1B, etc.
- Prepare written translation of materials, correspondence or other documentation as required by the department
- Work on multiple case types from simple to complex filings within practice area(s)
- Work with clients to gather necessary information and documentation in a timely manner
- Prepare all documentation according to information received from clients
- Monitor the status of all filed applications and petitions
- Evaluate cases and assist in providing case strategies and/or solutions to issues
- Keep abreast of current regulations and procedures relating to filing applications
