Corporates Division – Tourism Sector

Location: Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Panama or Peru

About this position

We are looking for an Investment Management Associate for the Tourism sector within the Corporates Division (SMC) of the Investment Operations Department (INO) of IDB Invest.
INO is responsible for the engagement of clients and partners for the origination, structuring, closing, and supervision of transactions and projects that are aligned with a strong development impact mandate. INO follows a matrix model consisting of three divisions including Corporates, Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Institutions, and two transversal areas covering Financial Products and Services and Portfolio Management.
Our Corporates Division consists of four independent units including Tourism, Manufacturing, Agribusiness, and Digital & Media, with coverage across the 26 regional operating countries where IDB Invest does business in Latin America and the Caribbean.

What you will do


You will be part of the Tourism team that develops new business and structures transactions of debt, mezzanine, and equity investments in LAC.

Your scope of activities shall include, but not be limited to:

Deal Origination and Execution
Support senior team members in identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities
Assist in the due diligence process, conducting detailed research and analysis to assess the feasibility and risks associated with transactions
Contribute to the preparation and review of transaction documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IDB Invest standards
Financial Analysis and Modeling
Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including building and maintaining financial models to support investment decisions
Perform scenario analysis including running sensitivity analyses over financial models and preparing results to be presented for decision making
Client Presentations and Communication
Prepare client presentations, pitch materials, and other documentation to effectively communicate financial information
Engage in client interactions, participating in meetings, presentations, and discussions to address client needs and provide strategic advice
Market Research and Industry Analysis
Stay abreast of market trends, industry developments, and competitive landscapes to provide valuable insights for decision-making
Conduct detailed research on specific sectors and companies to identify potential opportunities and risks.

What you will need

Education: You hold a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, and/or other relevant fields. Academic specialization in tourism and/or real estate is desirable. Experience: You have at least 2+ years of relevant professional experience in loan origination, structuring structured finance (project finance) or corporate finance transactions. Confirmed experience in a similar role in an investment or advisory firm, bank or infrastructure company would be desirable. Strong client relationship experience and skills are also highly valued. Languages: You are proficient in oral and written English and Spanish; knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.

Requirements

Citizenship: You are either a citizen, a resident with a legal permit or eligible to aquire valid residency or legal permit to work in either Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Panama, or Peru without the need for sponsorship by IDB Invest. Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
