About the job
The Human Rights Program drives company-wide strategy to fulfill Google's commitment to Human Rights, including our commitments to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs),Global Network Initiative Principles, and Human Rights aspects of Google’s AI Principles.
We do this by supporting internal Human Rights infrastructure, advising product teams and functions on potential civil and Human Rights impacts, providing strategic policy analysis, and engaging external experts and stakeholders.
In this role, you will work closely with the Global Head of Human Rights and a cross-functional team of Googlers who specialize in various aspects of Human Rights, including freedom of expression, civil rights, ethical labor and supply chain responsibility, and more.
Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.
