Job Title: People & Culture Intern

Able to work out of Bronx office location 1 time per week
People & Culture Intern. This role will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day functions, administrative tasks and will lead specific project work for the People & Culture team. The role requires an ability to handle sensitive information and manage timelines. The People & Culture Intern (HR) will report to the Sr. Generalist, People & Culture. The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for Human Resources, the desire to learn and contribute to the success of Food Bank for New York City.
Essential Functions:
- Support in scheduling workshops, webinars and other employee initiatives.
- Responsible for supporting special projects related to employee engagement, DEI, Recruitment, onboarding and new hire orientation.
- Assist with the development of our Corporate Wellness Initiative, planning a 12-month strategy to support the overall wellbeing of employees.
- Collect and update database with new hire information.
- Assist with staff recognition and engagement initiatives, including pitching new ideas and planning events.
- Develop and design a strategy to improve at least one program in one HR functional area.
- Conduct research to improve current programs.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite- Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Ability to build strong relationships, initiate action, and adjust to change
- Manage multiple tasks effectively and achieve objectives.
- Solid team player who provides stellar customer service in a professional and pleasant manner.
- Self-starter who obtains intellectual curiosity and is courageous in offering innovative, creative ideas and thoughtful solutions
- Ability to handle confidential staff, donor and volunteer information appropriately.
- Create compelling fact-based presentation in conclusion of internship.
Job Requirements
Must be eligible for employment under regulatory standards applicable to the position.
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree (rising Junior or Senior) in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration or other related areas of study
Able to work out of Bronx office location 1 time per week
