About This Internship
The HR Team strategically partners with business teams to attract, develop, and retain the workforce the company needs to meet business objectives. Arch MI has been named a Best Places to Work by the Triad Business Journal for four consecutive years and the HR group is focused on continuing this trend by further enhancing engagement, creating development and promotional opportunities, and fostering an innovative culture within the following areas (1) HR Business Partners (2) HR Operations; (3) Learning and Development; and (4) Employee Relations.
As an HR intern, the focus will be on the following areas:
- Best Places to Work Survey: Arch participates in this local employer ranking survey and for the 5th year in a row has been awarded a Triad Best Place to Work
- Analyze data, discern patterns or trends, and report your findings and suggestions for improvement actions to HR Business Partners and HR Operations.
Learning & Development:
- HR / L&D Business Process Mapping
- Partner with the HR Operations and L&D teams to identify critical business processes that impacts HR / L&D Service delivery.
- Map process life cycle from beginning to end.
- This includes defining business requirements / expectations (end-user surveys or interviews)
- Identifying how / when process is initiated.
- Document process steps
- Identify critical control points (including system & data requirements)
- For cross-functional / department processes use R.A.C.I. analysis to define roles
- Offer recommendations on how to build & sustain process enhancements.
LMS Refresh:
- Partner with the L&D Team to identify opportunities to enhance end-user LMS experience.
- How to quickly access content
- Ease of navigation
- LMS web page graphics
Diversity & Inclusion:
This highly visible, multi-year initiative saw tremendous growth in 2020 along with the creation of four (4) employee-comprised project teams (Metrics, People & Processes, Culture, and Communications).
- Work with Arch D&I Champions and Advocates to assist with coordination of programming, communications, or content development for employee-facing D&I events.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners to advance our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs): creating processes for monthly updates, ensuring annual plans are created and complete, updating charters.
Career Framework Project:
- Work closely with HR Business Partners on the scaling of the career framework tool for our employees.
Program Qualifications:
The standard qualifications of all Arch intern candidates are:
- 3.0 GPA.
- College level - current Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student.
- Entrepreneurial spirit along with the desire to be a continuous learner.
- Team player who collaborates effectively.
- Self-starter who can work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Position Qualifications:
In addition to the above qualifications, the below are critical to your success in this internship:
- Project management, Data Analysis, Detail-oriented, highly organized, excellent communication skills, Intermediate/advanced analytical skills (Excel preferred)
- Desired majors: Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Human Services, Business Analytics
Location & Work Arrangement
- This position is classified as a hybrid position. You will work 2 days onsite and 3 days from home.
- This position is in Greensboro, NC.
Timeline
Arch summer internship positions will be posted from October 2023 - March 2024 and will be unposted when filled.
Pay
For individuals assigned to or hired to work in Greensboro, NC, the hourly rate is $22 to $30 as of the time of posting. The breadth in the range exists to accommodate students in specialized programs such as actuarial candidates and graduate students. Any actual rate offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, along with the education & qualifications of the candidate. The above range may be modified in the future. Intern position is eligible for select Arch benefits.
