Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist will focus on the day-to-day HR issues within Liberty Utilities Georgia. The HR Generalist position serves as the first point of contact for employees and managers in providing support for HR related questions and concerns. The HR Generalist supports the HR department to ensure the strategy, initiatives and activities reflect business needs and priorities, in efforts to establish a business partnership with their customer base.
- Administer and support HR activities for Liberty Georgia, including policy and program management, communications, onboarding, compensation and employee/labor relations (union and non-union employees).
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations and compliance to Human Resources functions and ensures policies, programs (eg. (safety), procedures and reporting are in compliance
- Coordinate and present the new hire employee onboarding program and educational/training programs such as the e-learning program, benefits, diversity, management training, etc.
- Assist in pension administration and retiree benefits
- Assist the Talent Acquisition team with interviewing, testing and file administration
- Review employment background check results
- Liaise with Regional payroll department regarding new employee set-up, status changes, benefit inquires etc.
- Assist in all Culture and Engagement activities
- Advise managers and employees on the interpretation of personnel policies, bargaining agreements, compensation and benefit programs.
- Administer and communicate employee relations programs such as service awards Liberty Days, recognition programs, etc.
- Assist in the data collection for affirmative action planning, rate cases, audits, and budgets.
- Other duties as assigned
- 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, including supporting multiple sites
- Bachelor’s Degree required and HR certification a plus
- Strong understanding and experience in all aspects of U.S. employment law. Preferred experience in labor relations as it relates to unions.
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships internally and external of organization
- Excellent communication skills; known as an impactful and innovative communicator
- Strong change management skills; experience implementing HR programs and initiatives
- Innovative and creative; demonstrated experience in increasing employee engagement
- Strong attention to detail
- Some travel required to various Liberty locations
- Strong organizational skills; able to establish and maintain new processes and proceduresto enhance operational efficiencies
- Flexible and able to handle multiple activities in parallel
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to handle sensitive enquiries with tactand maintain confidentiality
- Advanced computer skills with a strong focus on MS Excel
- A valid passport is required for international travel
- Valid Driver’s license
