Note: This role is remote/work from home, but applicants must live in the Tampa Bay area due to occasional in-office requirements.
Summary: Performs Human Resources-related duties at the professional level and carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas as required: employee relations, employee development, performance management, employment law and compliance, benefits programs, payroll, and employee engagement and DEI programs. Supports and collaborates with Human Resources Business Partner(s) by serving as a consultant to management while acting as an employee champion and change agent.

- Partners with management and department to communicate and implement various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations. Facilitates record keeping of these policies and procedures.
- Maintains up-to-date records of all employees and manages the retention of employment data within HRIS and other systems.
- Ensures multi-jurisdictional legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR requirements.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to champion and accelerate our culture in which people feel engaged and inspired to deliver top business results through teamwork.
- Collaborates with Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development teams to ensure exceptional and seamless onboarding experience for new hires.
- Handles leave administration, accommodation requests, and work-related injuries.
- Handles offboarding of employees by ensuring the return of all company property, conducting exit interviews, and analyzing data to make recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement. May participate in required investigations with the assistance of the HR Business Partner.
- Under the guidance of the HR Business Partner, educates, coaches and partners with managers on performance management and employee development programs (coaching, counseling, career development, and/or corrective actions).
- Under the guidance of HR Business Partner, handles employee relations issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, civil rights complaints, and unemployment hearings.
- Acts as back-up to Manager, Talent Acquisition which may involve interviewing, screening, and recruiting job applicants to fill entry level, professional, and technical job openings.
- Acts as back-up to Payroll and HRIS functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Education/Certifications:
Bachelor's degree preferably in Human Resources management or a related field from four-year college or university plus two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. HR certification or willingness to obtain one is highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Highly prefer experience in all of the following areas: employee relations (including handling difficult disciplinary scenarios); employee retention-related activities (i.e. performance feedback, stay conversation, exit interviews, etc.); unemployment, workers' compensation and disability claims; FMLA administration; ADA accommodation; DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) programs, federal and state employment laws. Knowledge and experience in multi-jurisdictional compliance is a strong plus.
Must be proficient in O365 MS Office products, strong Excel and Word skills, familiarity with PowerPoint. Requires prior HRIS experience (ADP is a plus).
Competencies required: attention to detail, highly organized, strong written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to change, comfortable with minimal supervision/self-starter, the ability to listen and understand the needs of employees while also understanding the needs of the company. Requires the ability to speak in front of a group with ease and professionalism.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
Duties are performed primarily in a home office setting utilizing computer equipment. This position may occasionally require the employee to work in the Tampa, FL office with short or no notice. Travel to attend meetings and visit locations throughout the country may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
