Founded in 1961, Sandy Spring Friends School is a progressive, coed, academically-rigorous day and boarding school serving approximately 600 students from age three through 12th grade. The campus is located on 140 acres in the historic Sandy Spring area of Montgomery County, Maryland, and the School is approved by the Maryland State Board of Education and accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools.

Summary: The Human Resources Generalist will partner with the Director of Human Resources in HR initiatives including aspects of payroll, recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations and various other HR policies and initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Partners with Human Resources Director to help establish hiring, onboarding and other employment practices and policies
- Assists with external recruiting efforts, including maintaining relationships with schools, associations and other recruiters. Represents the organization at selected job fairs
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Collaborates with Human Resources Director to manage employee benefit plans
- Builds effective working relationships with faculty and staff at all levels, providing advice and guidance on a broad range of work related issues
- Maintains a system of personnel records for all school employees in order to provide a comprehensive and current record of all matters pertinent to employment
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Demonstrated HR experience primarily related to recruitment, onboarding, payroll and benefit plans
- HR certification preferred

Physical Requirements: Daily desk work including extensive amounts of computer and phone time as well as the ability to navigate stairs, mobility around a large campus with uneven pavement, bending and squatting, lifting/carrying boxes weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to rearrange furniture for events is occasionally required.
