Job description

Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist has a variety of responsibilities within the Human Resources department in several functional areas and partners with the Director of Human Resources on specialized projects in compensation and employee engagement/recognition. This position will be involved in cross departmental functions related to onboarding/offboarding, performance management, leave of absence, and employee relations. The HR Generalist reports to the Director of Human Resources and may also receive direction/feedback from the Employee Relations Manager and Senior HR Generalist, depending on assigned tasks and projects.
Your Contributions and Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementing the firm's Years of Service Recognition program (and after implementation, provide ongoing management) as well as aid the Director in developing/implementing other identified recognition or engagement efforts/programs; assist with annual Great Place to Work survey
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources with compensation related research and projects, including handling administrative tasks related to the annual bonus and salary increase processes
  • Assist with annual (or more frequent) updates to the firm's Employee Handbook and other related stand-alone policies
  • Oversee employee compliance for non-exempt meal/rest breaks
  • Participate in the employee onboarding process, including presenting new employee orientation, confirming employment eligibility with E-Verify, preparing offer letters and employment agreements, and assisting with communications related to onboarding
  • Assist with administrative functions related to the employee off-boarding process; conduct exit interviews as assigned
  • Participate in the semi-annual performance feedback Check-In process for designated office(s) or client groups, including assisting with system set-up, supporting leaders in developing content/message, as well as conducting HR review and approval of feedback
  • Provide assistance with the firm's Leave of Absence program, including providing required paperwork, tracking requests/approvals/return-to-work, and maintaining confidential LOA files
  • Assist with employee relations issues/concerns, under the direction of the Employee Relations Manager or Director of Human Resources; primary focus will be on conducting intake calls, note taking in meetings/investigations, and other entry level employee relations functions
  • Update and maintain a variety of Human Resources and other company systems.
  • Complete other projects as assigned

Your Background and Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in particular the ability to review and understand HR policies and translate them clearly to staff at all levels of the organization. Must have superior grammar and documentation skills, including the ability to accurately capture content discussed in meetings/investigations
  • Complete work accurately with strong attention to details
  • Ability to develop rapport with a variety of personalities and provide excellent customer service to candidates and employees/partners
  • Ability to effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage a variety of concurrent and shifting priorities
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive work-related information
  • Strong computer skills, including solid skill in the Microsoft Office suite (prefer advanced skill in Excel) and familiarity with a variety of HR software programs (Paychex Flex, Taleo, and Benetrac preferred)
  • Experience with compensation research and/or assisting with company-wide compensation efforts for salary increases and bonuses is preferred
  • Able to work evenings and weekends based on position needs

Your Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area plus 2-3 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a broad generalist position.
Prior experience with compensation analysis and employee recognition initiatives is strongly preferred. PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus.

  • Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 depending on experience. More is possible if experience dictates.
