WHY THIS POSITION EXISTS
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for overseeing activities to deliver optimal recruiting results, effective talent management, improved employee engagement and increased retention.
WHAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
The Director of Human Resources is expected to carry out at the minimum the following duties and responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a HR team.
- Serve as an advisor to the Senior Leadership team regarding all Human Resources related policies, programs, and initiatives, all in the context of the Company's overall business strategy.
- Lead and support departments with organizational capability and capacity analyses and strategic workforce planning, organization design, employee engagement, organizational announcements.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities to drive and/or lead change. Facilitate change management initiatives within assigned client units incorporating a methodology that includes: a business case for change, identification of primary stake holders, process mapping, communications planning, action/transition planning, visioning sessions, conflict resolution, team building, and after-action review assessments.
- Develop and conduct team development/team building strategies both proactively and when necessary to improve team performance and engagement.
- Present options to leaders on organizational structure, roles & responsibilities, staffing levels, matrix management, etc.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of market spaces including external talent trends, culture, reward systems, and organization models.
- Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the team and interpersonal dynamics.
- Identify opportunities and guide leaders to fill competency gaps through talent acquisition and talent development.
- Manage HR team to align top talent to highest priorities while ensuring inclusion and diversity outcomes.
- Design, facilitate and coach managers with all aspects of the Performance Management process.
- Analyze and design opportunities for learning and development programs; develop and facilitate organization-specific training sessions; assess training effectiveness through evaluations.
- Provide strategic HR advisory support for complex HR issues and activities (e.g. RIF)
- Look for trends and root causes as opportunities to improve organizational/team and employee satisfaction. Track employee issues and resolutions.
- Actively use data and metrics to drive department engagement and drive accountability for outcomes both with the department and the HR team.
- Monitor and address turnover and retention proactively to understand leading and lagging indicators for observed trends.
- Facilities and oversees investigations. Escalates to leadership as appropriate.
- Provide consultative guidance for compensation and facilitate appropriate compensation reviews.
- Work with leadership team members during annual Compensation Planning time to ensure alignment of rewards to performance, and that rewards are used as organizational levers.
- Provide consultation and benchmarking insights for job offers based on strategic need.
- Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Company.
- Ensure the company complies with Federal, State, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Manage the HR team to Ensure all HR related documents and records are collected, kept, and distributed accurately and properly according to Company policies and labor laws.
Requirements
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Minimum of 10 years of Human Resources experience
- Minimum of 7 years of Human Resources management experience, including leading and developing an HR team.
- Professional, ethical, and highly confidential
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Progressive knowledge of HR best practices including compliance standards
- Emotionally intelligent, trustworthy, and dependable.
- Related Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Telecommunications, Construction, or Manufacturing industry experience a plus
