Our EnviroIssues team believes in the power of community engagement to amplify the voices, ideas, and knowledge within communities to create a future where every person can thrive. We partner with our clients to develop human-centered conversations that elevate communities’ deep cultural and multi-generational relationships with the natural and built environments around us. As a consulting firm, we provide community engagement, outreach, facilitation, research, and creative services to various clients, mainly in the public sector. We work on projects across multiple sectors, including transportation, land use, climate change, natural resources, energy, utilities, solid waste, etc. We work mainly in Washington and Oregon, with offices in Seattle and Portland.

The Role
We are looking for a Human Resources Coordinator with 1-2 years of experience in Human Resources, administration, and/or customer service roles. In this role, you will support the day-to-day operations of EnviroIssues’ Human Resources team, working closely with the HR Director and the Finance team. You will work across various Human Resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding new employees, benefits administration, and data management.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication, writing, deadline management, and multi-tasking skills. In addition, they must be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of initiative, creativity, attention to detail, and professionalism.
This position will be based at our main office in downtown Seattle and may be fully on-site or hybrid on-site and remote.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely and high-quality Human Resources services to EnviroIssues staff
- Support staff and managers in navigating HR policies and procedures
- Process new hires, employee changes, and exits
- Maintain accurate employee information and files
- Process benefits enrollments, including changes throughout the year and during the open enrollment period
- Reconcile benefits bills monthly
- Administer transit pass benefits
- Assist with recruitment and hiring, including posting jobs, coordinating, and scheduling interviews, and candidate screening
- Coordinate onboarding processes and deliver HR orientations; create a welcoming environment for new staff
- Contribute to HR communications, including monthly newsletters, announcements, and HR intranet site content
- Partner with the HR Director and company leadership to ensure compliance with current local, state, and federal employment laws
- Complete employment verifications as requested
- Partner with the Safety Committee to support workplace health and safety initiatives
- Coordinate staff appreciation activities
- Other responsibilities and special projects as assigned
Desired Qualifications
- Has experience working in Human Resources, administration, and/or customer service roles
- Has experience working in databases, performing data entry, and pulling reports; familiarity with ADP Workforce Now or other Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) a plus
- Committed to process improvement and iteration
