The Background Check & Onboarding Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating background check processes and onboarding activities for new hires, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for all parties involved. This role plays a key role in maintaining compliance with company policies and legal regulations and contributes to building a strong and engaged workforce.


You Will:

  • Coordinate and manage the background check process for all candidates, including initiating background checks, monitoring progress, and addressing any issues or discrepancies that arise.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates, hiring managers, and background check vendors throughout the background check process, providing timely updates and addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Collaborate with the TA team to ensure a smooth transition from the recruitment process to the onboarding phase for new hires.
  • Develop and implement efficient and effective onboarding processes and procedures, including the distribution of onboarding materials, coordinating orientation schedules and tracking completion of required paperwork.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices, trends, and legal updates related to background checks and onboarding.
  • Partner closely with Human Resources Information Systems, Information Technology, and HR Business Partners on various ad-hoc assignments.


You Have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in HR, with a focus on background checks and onboarding. Internship experience can substitute for the experience requirement.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient experience in Microsoft Office Suite with an ability to learn new HRIS systems.

We expect the base salary range for this role to be approximately $75,000 - $90,000. Various factors contribute to determining the actual base compensation offered, including but not limited to the applicant’s years of relevant experience, career tenure, qualifications, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, relevant skills for the role, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. Base salary is one component of Lazard’s compensation package, which also includes comprehensive benefits and may include incentive compensation.
