Job Description
Tubman is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the agency’s Human Resources department. Primary responsibilities include ensuring smooth communication, and the prompt resolution of requests and questions. Must possess the ability to work interdependently, be a self-starter, and remain calm under pressure. This position is part-time 20 hours a week.

Responsibilities
- Assist with day to day operations of the HR functions and duties.
- Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees related to policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc. and refer more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Operate in and maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Provide clerical support to the HR department and work with other program leadership hiring new employees, which includes placing employment ads and job postings, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, completing background and reference checks, generating letters of employment, promotions, and transfers.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, invoices, documentation as well as personnel tracking and HR record keeping (both electronic database and paper files) in compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.
- Act as a liaison between the agency and external benefit providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
- Provide operational support for onboarding new employees, off-boarding employees, distributing and collecting employee badges and office keys, coordinate with IT for computer and agency portal access and registration.
- Assist with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, agency-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
- Monitor Human Resources calendar and email, answer questions, and respond to requests in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- HR-related degree preferred.
- 2+ years of prior related HR and/or office experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

The salary for the position is $23.00 per hour.
