Job Summary

This position assists practitioners and professional nursing staff in providing direct care services to incarcerated individuals at MCF-Shakopee. Responsibilities include:
- Assist and support incarcerated individuals with activities of daily living to maintain optimal health and wellness at the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Participate in data collection that assists in the development of individualized care plans.
- Assist incarcerated individuals to maintain a clean and well kept living environment.
- Assist with the daily operation of the unit to ensure medical services are met in a timely manner.
This position has direct contact with incarcerated individuals.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position:
- Current registration as a Nursing Assistant with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Nursing Assistant Registry.
- Clinical experience in a hospital, long-term care and/or clinic setting within the last five years.
- Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
- Experience working in a correctional or secured setting.
- Experience in specialized clinical area(s), such as in gender-specific, geriatric, juvenile health care, medical/surgery unit, and/or behavioral health.
Physical Requirements
The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components consist of a tuberculosis screening and/or respirator clearance. The selected finalist is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position. For a copy of the PDA, contact Shelley Rojesky (Shelley.Rojesky@state.mn.us).
Additional Requirements
The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
