Summary:

The Human Resources Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the Human Resources department with various administrative tasks and procedures. The responsibilities include maintaining client employee records and ensuring compliance with various processes and regulations. The Human Resources Assistant's attention to detail, strong organizational skills and confidentiality will contribute to the overall success of our organization.

Compensation:

$20.00/hour

Essential Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Maintains records and complies reports from database as needed.
  • Assists with the external employee orientation.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as directed by management.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Verifies I-9 documentation and ensures compliance with the established regulations.
  • Assist with the client's new hire process and ensures it is completed in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Submit online background investigation requests as directed and perform invoicing for Payroll Supervisor.
  • Files papers and documents into appropriate external employee files.
  • Assists or prepares correspondence.
  • Prepare the last payroll report monthly.
  • Updates and creates new forms.
  • Ensures compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate with other team members to always ensure proper phone coverage.
  • Participates in working groups.
  • Assist with mailing and postage.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and standards of Human Resources is preferred.
  • Knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of obtaining, verifying, and evaluating general and statistical information.
  • Must be able to type and use word processing software with database and spreadsheet software ability (Word, Excel, and Adobe).
  • General knowledge of online navigation and the internet is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) and in a professional manner when dealing with employees, clients, and the public.
  • Knowledge of Company policies/procedures and benefit packages of the ability and willingness to learn.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effectively communicate with people in potentially stressful situations.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to consistently meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required.
  • Associates degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • 2 year Human Resources experienced preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with others to make recommendations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must pass a drug test.
  • Professional appearance.
Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and driving in a vehicle.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds or more, at times.
  • Ability to travel; both local during the business day.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
