The Caring Place provides emergency shelter, residential programs, job training, education & computer literacy classes, healthcare, transitional housing, permanent housing, employment opportunities for homeless men, women, and children as well as programs for “at-risk” youth.
SHIFT:
Monday - Friday
8:30AM - 2:30PM
JOB SUMMARY
The Human Resources Assistant (HRA) reports to the Human Resources Director (HRD), and provides administrative support to the Human Resources Department.
DUTIES
- Provides administrative support to the HR Department
- Completes all assigned tasks in a professional, timely, and accurate manner with the highest level of confidentiality
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date Human Resources files, records, and documentation
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to HR Director
- Assists with processing Personnel Action Forms (PAF)
- Assists with new hire orientations and keeps new hire packet supplies replenished
- Assists in recruitment efforts by posting jobs, performing phone screens, scheduling interviews, organizing recruitment folders, and conducting reference checks for new hires
- Prepares and processes all paperwork for newly hired employees, including e-Verify I-9 verifications
- Organizes and purges I-9 and W-4 binders
- Assists with verifications of employment as requested
- Tracks the distribution of employee uniform shirts, maintains a log of available sizes and notifies supervisor when supplies are running low
- Provides backup support for biweekly timecard processing as needed
- Will lead and/or participate in devotions, prayers, or other ministry activities ex. outreach events
- Must be in agreement with and sign The Caring Place Statement of Faith
- Performs other related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Requires an Associate’s degree
- Bachelor’s degree or HR training/certification preferred
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an administrative role; familiarity with basic HR practices and terminology a plus
- Must poses an upbeat personality
- Must have the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision
- Must have strong PC skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Requires excellent organizational and communication skills
- Requires the ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality of sensitive information
- Requires the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and residents
- Must be able to speak, read and write fluently in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to sit for extended periods, and have the ability to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to see, hear and speak, in order to interact with staff and the general public
- Must be able to move around as needed to perform essential job duties
