POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: Essential Duties and Requirement Details

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the ASHR, performs diversified duties following established procedures in multiple areas of Human Resources. Administers the employee benefits programs and other related programs. Supports the day-to-day operations of all areas in the Human Resources department. Provides administrative support to the HR team. Apply appropriate benefit and employment laws as necessary.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Benefits:
  • Oversee the employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, FLEX, COBRA, and Open Enrollment).
  • Administers the Worker's Comp, FMLA, and retirement programs
  • Manages the annual "Open Enrollment" process for the District employees.
  • Ensures 1095s are sent out annually.
  • Understand and apply benefit laws as necessary
  • Resolves administrative insurance problems with the carrier representatives
  • Verifies the calculation of the monthly premiums for all group insurance policies and maintains statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs.
  • Manages the worker's comp, FMLA, and retirement programs
  • Enroll employees with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Oversees the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Human Resources:
  • Assist the HR Team with files/records.
  • Assist with the onboarding process for all new hires.
  • Assists the HR department with room set up for training, interviews, and meetings
  • Prepares communications correspondence for the HR team
  • Creates requisitions and invoices for the HR department and contracts for services
  • Contact person for the HR website

Evaluations and Events
  • Supports the evaluation system
  • Ensure 90-day evaluations are complete
  • POC for HR events - Retirement Tea, New Administrator Welcome, Staff Institute Day
  • Monitors the HR budget
  • Finalizes/Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs)

General Clerical Support
  • Provide administrative support by preparing the ASHR's and the HR team's agenda/schedule, meeting notes, and correspondence
  • Prepare a variety of reports for the HR team

Required Education
  • Associate degree or three years training or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience/Qualifications:
  • Three years experience in Human Resources/benefits or related areas.
  • Experience with various benefits programs and administration
  • Must be able to communicate, both written and orally, with employees, members of the HR management team, and in group meetings.
  • Stays up-to-date with HR/benefits trends and technology

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Applies excellent customer skills at all times
  • knowledge of employee benefits programs
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced HR environment
  • Knowledge of the essential Human Resources functional areas
  • Understands and applies the appropriate benefit and employment laws.
  • Ability to utilize innovative technology skills and knowledge to update current Human Resources policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • In-depth knowledge of employee benefits programs and laws
  • Knowledge of the essential functional areas of HR and employment laws
