The Human Resources Generalist aids with and facilitates many Human Resources processes at Alabama Orthopaedic Clinic (AOC). This role assists employees with questions and information regarding any employment-related matter. The Human Resources Generalist manages processes related to recruitment and on-boarding processes, orientation, benefits plan administration, employee leave processes, supports company policies and procedures, acts as a liaison between employee and insurance providers to resolve benefit related problems and ensures effective use of the plan and positive employee relations. The Human Resources Generalist provides administrative support to the Human Resource functions for the employee work-cycle as needed, including responsibilities for maintaining compliance standards and industry best practices in personnel file recordkeeping, HRIS data entry, assisting in preparing mandatory employer reports, and may research changes in labor laws for recommended policy or procedure updates necessary at AOC.
Paycor proficiency a plus. This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Manages full-cycle recruitment: position posting, new hire orientation, and onboarding processes.
- May assist in the administering of health and benefits plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Performs customer service functions by answering employee and management requests and questions.
- Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation, maintains I-9 files and E-Verify documentation.
- Submits online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks, including OIG and NPDP checks.
- Prepares new-employee files and enters all new hire information into the HRIS system, makes updates to employee demographic files, terminates access, and tracks all changes on HR Department checklists to ensure the integrity of electronic and paper employee files are accurate and complete.
- May provide assistance with payroll, benefits or other HR programs.
- Assists with processing of terminations.
- Oversees the preparation and deployment of the performance review process.
- Assists with recruitment and interview process. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process to ensure the right candidate is hired the first time.
- Participates and coordinates employee engagement and retention activities that may include picnics, employee forums, employee engagement/voice surveys, and other employee recognition activities.
- Enrolls and terminates employees from benefit plans, as necessary.
- Provides accurate, timely and effective guidance to all levels of staff on the interpretations and application of the following Human Resources related policies and procedures: FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, sexual harassment, unethical or inappropriate behaviors, employee benefit programs or other AOC corporate compliance policies.
- Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the Director of Human Resources.
- Conducts employee exit interviews and provides the departing employee with a memorandum of needed information regarding COBRA coverage and other benefit options.
- Role models professional behaviors and demonstrates commitment to confidentiality and integrity.
- Supports sound compensation structures, including pay grades and titles that are consistent with industry recognized practices. On behalf of the organization, with oversight from the Vice President of Human Resources, executes and participates in compensation/salary surveys and employee benefits benchmarking surveys to ensure market equitability with AOC programs. Performs job analysis, job description and evaluation activities in conjunction with the Vice President of Human Resources.
- Files documents into appropriate employee files, assists or prepares correspondence as requested, processes mail, and performs other related duties as requested.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources or social science related field and/or equivalent experience preferred.
- At least 3-5 years related experience required. Preference will be made for candidates with healthcare Human Resources experience.
- SHRM-CP or CHHR credential preferred.
