What You'll Do:
Primarily responsible for the following Human Capital Management sub-programs:
1) Recruitment and Hiring (e.g., requesting lay-off lists; placing employment advertisements in various sources; posting positions on Ohio careers website; establishing/maintaining contacts with local schools & Job and Family Services regarding employment opportunities; attending job fairs; collecting & screening employment applications; contacting applicants to schedule interviews; assisting department heads with pre-employment interviews; checking applicant references; handling inquires (e.g. phone calls & e-mails) regarding employment opportunities; ensuring all pre-employment requirements are met prior to hire; notifying candidates of hiring decisions; communicating employment offers; posting & awarding internal moves per terms of collective bargaining agreements.
2) Personnel maintenance (e.g., maintaining employee files {computer and paper}; preparing Personnel Actions; compliance with the Ohio Drug Free Workplace policy, updating Table of Organization; ensuring personnel records are compliant with licensure standards; maintaining employee computer access by requesting new/changes & disabling).
3) Employee development & retention – involved with employee appreciation initiatives; involved with new staff & on-going training efforts (e.g. scheduling training, presenting at training sessions); follow-up with new & promoted employees then meeting with department heads to problem solve issues presented; meeting with employees giving notice of intent to resign to determine potential changes/improvements.
Assists other HCM staff with other HR functions (e.g. payroll, benefits, labor relations, EEO); cross-trained to fill in when other HR staff are absent.
