Description
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Detroit Renaissance Center Global HQ three times per week, at minimum.
The Role:
As the leader in GM's Human Resource Group you will serve as the local/regional subject matter expert for benefits. You will provide support to our GM groups and employees for providing analytical, advising, and technical needs. You will collaborate with the business unit to provide seamless benefits support. You will also be responsible for the strategy development, analysis, and assessment of the GM Pension, Savings, and Profit Sharing Plans.
What You'll Do:
- Analysis of Plan data and recommendation of future strategic initiatives for financial wellness and retirement readiness
- Participation in and support U.S. negotiations of collectively bargained Pension, Savings and Profit Sharing Plans
- Support Canadian negotiations of collectively bargained Pension and Savings Plans
- Strategic Plan benchmarking and Defined Benefit/Defined Contribution studies
- Support development of the annual Total Rewards Journal and Benefit Plan
- Lead financial wellbeing by taking a creative approach to design, recommendation, communication, and implementation
- Develop Plan language and recommend updates to existing Plan provisions, including working with Global Business Services and third-party administrators on benefit design, implementation, communication, and delivery
- Analyze proposed and current legislative and regulatory changes (PBGC, DOL, ERISA) and recommend Plan strategies as appropriate
- Assess “best practices” in the marketplace and recommend new technology or tools to facilitate employee engagement in personal financial management
- Review and analyze annual Pension Valuation Census Data & Assumptions for support of Plan Administrator certification process
- Investigate Plan provisions and assists with resolution of participant appeals
- Review and update Summary Plan Descriptions
- Support annual projects including development or review of communication
- Provide support for internal and external Pension and Savings Plan audits
- Support development of strategic retirement and savings projects
- Contribute to development of training and communications materials (i.e., New Hire Orientation, Benefits Conference, Union Benefit Rep and Salaried Materials)
- Serve as subject matter expert for field HR and LR in the areas of Retirement, Savings and Profit Sharing
- Stay current with legislative and regulatory changes that impact Global Pension and Savings Operations
- Provide analytical support for global proposals related to Pension and Savings
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business or similar degree
- 5+ years’ experience in U.S. Retirement Plans, specifically defined benefit plans
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in teams as well as independently
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (written & verbal)
- Strong organizational and project planning skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Strong analytical skills
