Human Resources Recruiting and Generalist Coordinator

Des Plaines, IL

EMT, along with our sister company STAT Analysis, represents the largest environmental laboratory testing network within the Chicagoland area.  STAT is in the downtown Chicago loop area (12,000 square foot facility) and EMT is in the suburbs near O'Hare International Airport (40,000 square foot facility).  Both companies are experiencing significant growth, expanding locally with engineering customers and nationally with the Department of Defense and PFAS testing work.

We are on the search for a Human Resources Coordinator who will play a crucial role in managing benefits, hiring, compensation, and other key related initiatives throughout the organization. We are hiring someone with an entrepreneurial mindset that is looking to grow their career in a great organization. 

Job Summary:
We are looking for an individual with a strong foundation in both Recruiting and HR who is excited about an opportunity to own Recruiting and HR responsibilities within our growing organization and continue to grow and develop professionally. In this role, you will partner closely with our managers on their recruiting priorities and strategies, including, sourcing and attracting candidates, interviewing, hiring and onboarding. Additionally, you will own and administer a variety of HR related tasks and programs in support of our employees. This will include creating and administering HR, Benefits, Culture and Employee Engagement related programs, ensuring they are aligned with our company's mission, values and goals. Reporting to the the Executive Management team, in this role you will be responsible for owning the Recruiting and HR function across STAT Analysis http://www.statanalysis.com/ and EMT https://emt.com/.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-3 years experience in a Benefits, Payroll, or Recruiting role.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
  • Financial ability to identify and implement cost-effective programs.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership experience with involvement in execution as well as the development of strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to effectively lead people and get results through others. In-depth knowledge and experience in effectively leading the wide-spectrum of compensation and benefits programs and practices which supports results-oriented business.
  • Highly detail oriented.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • General knowledge of federal and state employment laws and practices.
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Location: In order to successfully support our employee needs, we would require this position to be onsite between the Chicago and Des Plaines locations on a regular, with the option of working remotely one day a week. 

 

Responsibilities:

Recruiting:

  • Partner with the hiring managers to create innovative talent acquisition strategies, including sourcing and recruiting top talent to our organization.
  • Provide support in the recruitment function, this includes retaining the services of staffing agencies, submitting postings, assisting with job documentation/compliance requirements, conducting interviews, providing input to hiring managers, performing reference checks, and recommending compensation levels. The incumbent will closely manage the open positions and provide periodic reports to the HR leadership on open requisitions and recruitment progress.
  • Develop and conduct the employee onboarding process and new hire orientation.

 

HR Administration/other duties:

  • Represent the human part of our business by demonstrating deep caring for a diverse team while we accomplish business goals and objectives.
  • Supports various HR plans and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resources files, records, and documentation.
  • Implements personnel policies and procedures, responds to employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs, and promotes understanding and compliance by all employees.
  • Participates with the HR team on company-wide HR initiatives and long-term HR strategic planning.
  • Responsible for working with internal management and external counsel as appropriate on any disciplinary matters, employee relation issues, or investigations.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining all employee policies, including the employee handbook.
  • Partner with the management team to oversee and coordinate all HR-related training. Identifies appropriate vendors or conducts training as appropriate.
  • Responsible for compliance reporting and training related to occupational health and safety.
  • Conduct employee engagement surveys, identifying themes and trends, and provide action and recommendations to increase employee engagement.
  • Conduct research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Benefits Administration:

  • Assists with the administration of comprehensive benefits program, including medical, wellness, dental, vision, disability, life, flexible spending account, retirement and auxiliary plans.
  • Respond to employees' benefits-related questions.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment process.
  • Review open enrollment elections for accuracy and timely completion.
  • Audit benefit vendor invoices quarterly for accuracy and process for payment on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with 401(k) plan compliance including review of plan activity, statements, testing, annual audit, etc.
  • Coordinate employee education seminars relating to benefits and leave administration.
  • Coordinate leave administration (FMLA, ADA, Paid Family Leave, disability plans) in conjunction with managers and outsourced absence management vendors for new and open claims.
  • Manage the annual benefits renewal and open enrollment processes and ensure plans are competitive and compliant.
