Job Description Summary:
Human Resources Management and Development (HRMD) is made up of several departments that serve as advocates for the community and consistently provide discreet, valuable and personalized service that is timely and responsive. HR helps to maintain a diverse workforce of the highest caliber and to support employees in their roles within the university. Reporting to the Director, HR, the HR Manager works directly with clients and serves as the lead for on-site HR support. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
• Collaborates with management on areas regarding recruitment, diversity, EEO laws, performance management, HR policies, employee relations, progressive discipline, training, strategic management and organizational development.
• Assists managers of client area with the development of HR related departmental policies, ensuring compliance with University policies.
• Advises employees and managers on new and ongoing HR programs and initiatives and is a single point of contact for managers to access services provided by other Human Resources functions.
• May serve as the Human Resource representative with external agencies regarding employee related activities initiating from complaints such as EEOC, Unemployment, Department of Labor, etc.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree in a relevant area of study plus 1 years of relevant experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Thorough knowledge of general HR policies, procedures and practices, personnel administration systems, salary administration, recruitment techniques, EEO and Affirmative Action Planning and knowledge of federal and state laws as they relate to HR.
• Ability to build trust with clients and gain knowledge and business acumen to facilitate client initiatives and objectives.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrate ability to multitask in a fast paced environment in an organized and efficient manner.
• Exhibit a proactive and service-oriented approach to deal effectively with a diverse and demanding client base.
• Experience working in a Higher Ed organization is a plus.
• Experience in Organization Development techniques and performance management.
• Experience with large and small group facilitation.
• Familiarity with change management techniques.
• Preferred candidates will have experience and knowledge in all of the HR functional areas.
