POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for planning and delivering team HR generalist initiatives and day to day work through creating a fair, respectful and diverse work culture that enables team members to contribute their very best to Lucky Eagle Casino & Hotel. This position works at both a strategic and operational level to assess problems and make sound judgements around issues that may have an adverse effect on the business from an HR generalist perspective.

This position ensures the confidentiality, security and accuracy of guest’s and team member records, and promotes positive guest and team member relations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required and outstanding guest service to fellow team members, guests, vendors, etc. is expected. Regular attendance is required, and on occasion, later hours or weekend time may be required with project deadlines and a neat well-groomed professional appearance is essential at all times.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions of the HR Generalist position classification includes but not limited to:

  • Drive effective team member relations within the organization through complying with company policies, procedures and team member engagement events and activities through creating a fair, respectful and diverse environment.
  • Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to determine staffing strategy, work planning and resources allocation, including streamlining recruiting processes. Communicate consistently on status of all applicants in the process.
  • Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS) and audits for accuracy and compliance.
  • Effectively problem solves team member relation claims, concerns and allegations through conducting investigations, one on one and focus group meetings.
  • Assist in developing and executing personnel procedures and policies, and provide guidance and interpretation for business operations.
  • Collaborates and co-facilitates team member relations training on harassment avoidance, unemployment, turn-over and team member retention.
  • Facilitate team member surveys to gauge effective team member satisfaction within the organization.
  • Coordinate the internal grievance procedure process; implement updated policy and practices as needed.
  • Facilitate and report on exit interview and turnover information, makes recommendations to director and executive committee members for improved team member relations and morale.
  • Collaborates with Security in administering drug screening for reasonable suspicion and for-cause testing.
  • Collaborate, advise, and support all casino leaders on team member relations matters to ensure their effective management of disciplinary action, grievances, and team member performance.
  • Keep updated on all team member relations legislation, Federal regulations, and Tribal policies as they change; ensure that the business policy manual reflects relevant changes in law and compliance.
  • Advise and refer team members to EAP.
  • Administer and conduct unemployment hearings by gathering necessary supporting documents and coordinating with department leaders on their role.
  • Work efficiently and effectively well under pressure in sensitive situations; demonstrates credibility within the organization.
  • Effectively communicates with all levels of team members with a high level of emotional intelligence, excellent interpersonal skills and a wide understanding of people’s issues.
  • Ensure proper team member documents are retained based on file retention schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Organization Development or Business Administration, and/or a combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.

SKILL, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Must have five (5) years prior experience in employee/team member relations as a human resources professional. Must be proficient in: Microsoft Office products, HRIS systems and have strong analytical and communication skills, extensive knowledge of applicable tribal, state and federal regulations (ERISA, FML, Section 125, etc.) Benefits administration experience required.

Must be a minimum of 21 years old and have the ability to obtain and retain a Washington State Class III Gaming License; successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen; and have and maintain a driving record that at least meets the minimum requirements established by Lucky Eagle Casino & Hotel vehicle insurance provider.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle; feel; or grip objects, stretch and/or reach with hands and arms; stoop; crouch or work in cramped or awkward positions; repetitive motions. This person may regularly lift and/or move up to 30+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust to focus.

ENVIRONMENT:

Primarily indoors and may be exposed to heavy smoke and fluctuations in temperature while in and around the Casino and/or Hotel. May also, from time-to-time be exposed to noise from slot machines, customers, music and public announcement system, as is common in a Casino and/or Hotel environment.
