Position Title: HR Generalist

Wage: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm. Role will also include occasional evenings or weekend activities

Metro connects people, places, and opportunities through quality transit services. Metro is looking to employ an HR Generalist with outstanding attention to detail, and critical thinking skills. The HR Generalist should be personable and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Top candidates will display a solid understanding of labor law, compliance, recruiting processes, and have superb organizational skills.

HR Generalist Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in a dedicated Human Resources or related role.
• Associates degree or higher in a Human Resources or related field
• Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills
• • Meticulous attention to detail. (Did you catch it?)
• Exposure to labor law and employment regulations including EEO, FLSA, FMLA, and ADA
• Effective HR administration and full understanding of HR functions and best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related business and communication tools.
• Fantastic organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to cooperate and develop good working relationships with others.
• Ability to complete a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check satisfactorily.
• Positive attitude and demonstrated excellence in customer service.

HR Generalist Essential Duties:

• Regular and predictable attendance and performance of essential job functions.
• Assists with the development and implementation of procedures and practices.
• Keeps abreast of agency-wide policies and procedures and communicates such to employees.
• Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
• Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
• Supports and promotes the mission, initiatives, and values of Metro.
• Assists with the administration of compliance related programs and procedures including EEO, FLSA, Drug & Alcohol, and Public Employee “Due Process” rights.
• Proactively audits processes, procedures, and documents to ensure they are compliant with all relevant regulations.
• Develops process improvement plans and implements them.
• Research and monitors applicable legislative and policy changes.
• Conducts intake meetings with hiring managers.
• Screens and reviews job applications
• Schedules, hosts, and conducts interviews and hiring events.
• Helps coordinate and administer the orientation of new employees.
• Produces and sends reports on recruitment activity.
• Other related duties and special projects as assigned.
