Job Summary: The HR Generalist is responsible for working closely with the CHRO to provide human resources support to employees. This position is responsible for employee relations support, policy interpretation and guidance, manager coaching and development, management and administration of Leave of Absence, FMLA and health insurance programs. The position will also build and execute candidate recruitment strategies in partnership with hiring managers, create and implement recruiting campaigns through the use of social media platforms and sourcing events, provide exceptional support to applicants and hiring managers.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Human Resources (HR) guidance and resolution to compliance issues through policy interpretation and application, management coaching and development, counseling and investigation.
  • Monitors, documents, and ensures compliance with HR policies and procedures; communicates and interprets policies and procedures; investigates and reviews complaints, including discrimination and harassment; and assists CHRO in resolving policy and procedure related issues. Partners with broader HR team to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures across all locations.
  • Handles the administration and maintenance of employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, and life insurance. Responds to general employee inquiries, referring to appropriate contact on complex matters that cannot be resolved at a local level. Handles all aspects of new employee benefit enrollment and coverage termination, including planning and execution of the annual open enrollment process.
  • Manages the administration of leave of absence and FMLA programs, Workers Comp/Injury Claim programs, including employee certification and notifications.
  • Full-lifecycle recruiting to build scalable talent acquisition process and programs, including workforce planning, sourcing platforms, social media recruitment strategy, interview scheduling/feedback processes, interview training for those involved in the candidate selection process and new-hire onboarding.
  • Proactively maintains positive relationships with personnel in community colleges and universities with agriculture programs, including building relationships with department heads, students and alumni contacts. Leverage previous university recruitment knowledge and market intelligence for the continuous improvement of campus recruitment and programs.
  • Plans and implements recruitment and campus events both in-person and virtual, including organization and participation in campus career fairs, on-campus interviews, information sessions and company hosted events. Manage all aspects of the company's internship programs, both at college and high school levels.
  • Answers questions and provides information regarding employment policies, requirements and general employee benefits; communicates with applicants regarding the status of their application and the hiring process.
  • Develops recruitment plans using both traditional and creative applicant sourcing ideas through a variety of techniques; uses labor market information to plan for current and future recruitment needs; projects potential vacancies, plans for areas of difficulty and works with management on staffing related issues.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of local, state and federal labor regulations.
  • Ability to exercise judgement and/or discretion in making independent decisions. Able to work at a fast pace while handling confidential and sensitive information with high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and within team environment.
  • Proven experience in full-cycle recruiting, developing and implementing sourcing strategies and social media content.
  • Hands-on experience with recruiting software, social media platforms, as well as Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to understand and proactively manage both internal and external customer needs.
  • Positive attitude, detail, and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability.
  • Ability to meet local travel needs to represent company at various recruitment and employment functions, including local travel between work locations.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and software applications relevant to work functions.
  • Willingness to take on additional duties as assigned by management.
