Job description

Job Purpose
Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist for Open Sky Education is business partner to managers, supervisors, and team members across the entire organization by performing a variety of complex, professional level work in multiple functional areas of HR, including: benefits, compensation, employee relations, training, performance management, workforce effectiveness/organizational development, change management and other workplace initiatives. This is performed for assigned school locations.
S/he will work closely with Talent Acquisition, Finance, Systems Development, Professional Development and schools to provide a wide range of quality Human Resources services to all levels of team members throughout the entire organization.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Responsible for supporting all Human Resource activities including, but not limited to employee relations, total rewards, training/development, reporting, and compliance
  • Annually reviews and makes recommendations for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on team member matters

  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization's compliance with Federal, State and Local Employment Regulations
  • Communicates changes in the organization's team member handbooks, policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed
  • Works directly with Leaders and managers to assist them in implementing carrying out their responsibilities on team member matters
  • Recommends, evaluates and participates in staff career development for the organization to provide individuals with professional and personal growth
  • Participates on internal and external committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities and relationships
  • Maintain information and process transactions in HRIS system (UKG). Running ad hoc reports and auditing for accuracy.
  • Investigate complaints or concerns related to workplace issues and document accordingly
  • Facilitate Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) at both the State and Federal level and coordinate benefits with our leave management partner, including processing STD/LTD claims
  • Aid in the administration of benefit plans, including establishing eligibility, timely responses to team members regarding coverage questions, assisting with onboarding and orientation, and recording changes to benefits and COBRA processing
  • Coordinate and file Workers Compensation claims on behalf of team members
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition Specialist and Hiring Manager to manage the candidate experience by seamlessly navigating them through the onboarding process
  • Review separation reasons and exit survey data to evaluate turnover concerns
  • Collaborate with the other HR team members to ensure OSE and its affiliated corporations are exciting, supportive, and challenging places of employment where all team members become a part of our team and family
  • Live and act as a biblical role model and Open Sky Education representative in your life for our scholars, team members and community.
  • Agree to comply at all times with our Code of Conduct and Statement of Faith.
  • Agree to engage in the faith life of our scholars and in collaboration with other team members
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of previous human resources experience including employee relations, compensation, benefits, compliance, and talent acquisition
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree required; graduate degree preferred
  • Previous experience in a multi-state organization preferred
  • Experience with Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG) is a plus
  • Proven leadership skills with well-rounded experience in human resources topics
  • Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Suite of products including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Very strong organization and time management/project management skills necessary to prioritize and manage multiple, complex projects, potentially with conflicting priorities; ability to react quickly in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Required Travel: Local, up to 15%
