Position: Human Resources Coordinator

FLSA Status: Full-Time Salary-Exempt

Reports To: Human Resources Director - Manufacturing

Summary of the Position

The Human Resources Coordinator will assist with the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department at the manufacturing facility. This position will assist with Onboarding, Recruiting/Staffing, Benefits, Timekeeping, Leave of Absence, Employee Relations, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Essential Functions

  1. Serve as the initial point of contact for all employee inquiries at our plant location, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  1. Collaborate to ensure all updates to personnel information is entered accurately in our HRIS.
  2. Actively communicate all payroll updates to the Payroll and Benefits Manager in advance of payroll processing deadlines.
  3. Conduct Form I-9 verifications in compliance with established federal guidelines and company procedures.
  1. Assist with the recruiting efforts by conducting phone screens and scheduling onsite interviews.
  2. Communicate with the corporate HR team in regard to extending offers of employment for open positions.
  3. Serve as a partner on the facilitation of the new hire process: Processing background checks, drug screens, etc.
  1. Schedules and assists with New Hire Orientation.
  2. Oversight of Attendance Point System to drive accuracy and consistency.
  3. Ensure all HR tracking sheets are updated and reflect accurate details in a timely manner.
  4. Assist Benefits Manager administer employee benefits, including enrollment periods, inquiries and addressing related questions.
  1. Assist when needed in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  2. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  1. Conducts daily walks/greetings on the plant floor to be a positive presence for both employees and supervisors.
  2. Assist the Engagement Committee and Human Resource Team to plan company/morale events.
  3. Assists with labor relations with the local union which includes facilitating proper adherence to the collective bargaining agreement, partnering with union leadership and participating in contract negotiations.
  1. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel

This job operates in a professional business office or home office where standard office equipment is routinely used, such as computers, photocopy machines, fax machines, telephones and filing cabinets.

This position is largely a sedentary role. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

There is minimal travel required locally between the corporate office location and the manufacturing facility.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field OR 2 years of related experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Human Resources experience in a Manufacturing environment is a plus.

This is a full-time position, on-site at the manufacturing facility. The hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 hours per week. An occasional shift in hours may be necessary to accommodate employees working on the overnight shift.
