Job Description:
The Accountant works alongside the Bookkeeper, Operations Director and Executive Director to ensure accurate and useful financial reporting for the HAFA board of directors as well as external partners (Grantors, Donors) This position provides oversight to the information in HAFA’s accounting system as well as the necessary separation of duties by performing account reconciliations. The Accountant also meets on a regular basis with the Executive Director and Operations Director to ensure that proper accounting policies are consistently followed.
Responsibilities:
The duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Weekly check-ins with Executive Director, Operations Director and Bookkeeper.
- Calculate/Submit bi-weekly payrolls and enter to QuickBooks.
- Review monthly activity and enter month-end journal entries.
- Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts.
- Prepare monthly financial report for ED, OD and Board Treasurer.
- Prepare quarterly financial report for Board Meetings. Attend the board meetings and present financial reports.
- Coordinate/Assist with annual financial audit.
- Coordinate annual budgeting process.
- Distribute annual W2s to employees and 1099’s to contractors.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 5+ years of experience with accounting for non-profit organizations.
- Experience with managing grant reporting in QuickBooks Online software.
- Excellent financial skills and comprehension.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Online (certification encouraged), Excel and other office-related software programs.
- Have an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
