The New York State Bar Association, a non-profit, professional membership organization, is seeking a full-time Controller for its Albany, NY office.
The position of Controller oversees the NYSBA's accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. The Controller is responsible for duties including the preparation of monthly financial statements; reconciliation of the general ledger; preparation of Section and Committee reports; balance sheet detail; tax returns; and annual audit.
A bachelor's degree in accounting is required, as well as five (5) to seven (7) years of accounting experience in either public or private accounting. A demonstrated knowledge of the Microsoft suite of Office applications and Excel is also required. Proficiency in Great Plains and Salesforce is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, and five to seven years of related experience.
