Passionate about health justice and access to care for everyone? Hope Dental is expanding our Board!

We invite you to learn more about our mission to impact the lives of people in our community who cannot afford basic oral health care that most of us take for granted!

Hope Dental Clinic (HDC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide oral health outreach and direct care services to those most in need, regardless of the ability to pay. HDC employs a volunteer-based model and operates as a training site for dental professionals and clinic management. This model allows Hope to leverage the time and skills of private practitioners and students advancing their training to serve those in need.

The Board aspires to provide mission-based leadership through strategic & generative governance. We believe the board's role is to steer HDC towards a sustainable future by providing insight and foresight as well as ensure strong fiscal management, legal integrity, and sufficient resources to advance Hope's mission.

We welcome your perspective from lived experience or advocacy/experience working with diverse, underserved communities. We are also looking for leadership skills you have or want to develop in marketing & communications, fund-raising, governance or healthcare.

The Board Member role is critical to ensuring the health and sustainability of the organization and its ability to fulfill its mission. Responsibilities include:

• Actively engage in learning about the mission and various aspects of the organization to better inform participation in deliberation and decision making for fiduciary management, strategic guidance and framing the challenges of the future.
• Prepare for and participate in quarterly board meetings and bi-monthly committee meetings. (Members are expected to serve on one committee or task force.)
• Willingness to contribute expertise and leverage connections, networks, and resources to support strategic imperatives. 
• Fully engage in advocacy and fund raising or stake holder initiatives and special events to build awareness and enhance Hope’s public image.
• Commit to individual support by investment of time and donations at a personally meaningful level.
• Respect the experiences of all who bring their voices and lived experiences to governance and Hope's operations alike
