TREE ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER
"Serve Your City & Help Us Reach Our Goal of Maintaining Tree City USA Designation!"
Attention tree lovers! We are seeking residents of Tooele City to serve on our Tree Advisory Board.
Our seven-member volunteer board will provide valuable services designed to enhance the quality of life, beautification, and safety of our City and will assist the City with the proper planting and care of trees on our public properties. Our goals is to maintain Tree City USA designation.
This is a three year appointed term and the Board meets a minimum of four times each year.
We anticipate establishing a reliable board with set duties and responsibilities for which we can ensure you are trained to safely perform. While we are open to other ideas and opportunities, some of our current service opportunities include:
Coordinate and promote Arbor Day activities;
Review, update, and recommend a five-year plan to plant and maintain trees on Tooele City's public properties;
Support public awareness and education programs relating to trees;
Review City department concerns relating to tree care;
Submit an annual report of its activities to the Parks & Recreation Director, who shall submit the report to the Mayor;
Assist with the annual application to renew the Tree City USA designation; and,
Recommend a list of tree species for planting on city property, with a particular list of tree species for planting in the park strips, and a list of prohibited species.
We may also have other unique or specialized contributions volunteers can assist with.

If selected to fill a volunteer position, you may be required to provide additional information or undergo a background check. You are required to follow the City's policies and procedures. You may be required to obtain specific training relevant to your assigned volunteer position. Volunteers serve for civic, humanitarian, and charitable purposes without compensation, benefits, or reimbursement for expenses but are added to Tooele City's workers compensation and general liability insurance policy. There is no expectation of continued service and volunteers serve at the pleasure of the City and can be released with our without cause at any time.
