Knox College is seeking a Heating Plant Operator!

Heating Plant Operator

40 hours per week

12-month position

Shift: 7:00am-3:30pm Monday through Friday, but could vary to include evenings, weekends,

and holidays

Summary: Under the general direction of the Heating Plant Foreman and the supervision of

the Associate Director of Facilities Services, the Heating Plant Operator maintains the boilers

and chillers in the Central Heating Plant, assists in the maintenance of the motor pool fleet,

and repairs and maintains the HVAC in all campus facilities.

Required Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent

2. Two years of boiler experience

3. Two years of HVAC experience

4. Ability to read and comprehend instructions

5. Must have a valid driver's license

6. Ability to move or lift up to 100 pounds

Additional Responsibilities:

Maintains and operates boilers, cooling towers, chillers and related equipment in a safe

and efficient manner.

Maintains and operates campus HVAC to provide safe and efficient HVAC systems.

Maintains daily boiler, chiller, water and fuel logs. Performs daily water analysis and

make adjustments as directed by the Heating Plant Foreman.

Maintains and cleans College’s motor pool fleet to provide safe and clean vehicles.
