The City of Centralia seeks a full-time Water Plant Maintenance Operator. Applicant must have some knowledge of the operations and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant. The successful candidate must possess the ability to maintain detailed shift reports and operational records, possess the ability to interpret and record data from water sampling, correlate data to the plant process and make chemical and physical adjustments to the treatment process as warranted, possess the ability to conduct inspections of tanks, equipment, and other unit processes, possess the ability to inspect and operate raw water pumping stations and booster stations, visually and audibly monitor entire water treatment process and associated alarms, off-load chemicals and fill, maintain and adjust chemical feeders, keep superiors informed of unusual circumstance, possess ability to respond to emergency call outs and overtime work as assigned by superiors.
Must obtain Class “D” IEPA Water Operators Certificate within the probationary period and be willing to attend meetings, seminars, and further education classes in order to maintain certificate through continuing education units.
Successful candidate must have ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move more than 75 pounds, must have ability to adequately hear, see, and smell to appropriately perform the required duties.
