S&ME is seeking an individual to join our Construction Services team in Duluth, Georgia as aMasonry Laboratory/QA Manager and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients.
What You Will Do:
As a Masonry Laboratory/QA Manager, you will play a pivotal role in guaranteeing the quality and compliance of masonry units and materials and safeguarding the integrity of construction projects. Your leadership ensures adherence to industry standards, fostering safety and durability.
- Oversee laboratory testing of masonry units and aggregates, aligning with ASTM, AASHTO, GDT, and project specifications.
- Review project plans and specifications, preparing for laboratory testing to meet project requirements.
- Assist in pricing testing for proposals and establishing agreements/contracts with clients.
- Maintain relationships and frequent communication with existing clients, while actively prospecting for new clients via various channels.
- Ensure a safe work environment, effectively operating lab equipment around ovens, drop hammers, etc., and maintaining an organized laboratory space.
- Effective communication with the Laboratory Manager on when help is needed to meet deadlines, if there are equipment needs, upcoming calibrations, etc.
Who You Are:
- You have a High school diploma or GED
- You have experience with masonry units, concrete, and/or aggregate testing and ASTM, AASHTO, and GDOT standards
- You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing), using the English language
- You have math skills and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- One or More Active Certification(s):
- American Concrete Institute (ACI): Masonry Laboratory and/or Field Technician; Aggregate Testing
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
- Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
- Walking over rough and uneven terrain
- Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
- Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
- Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
