Chenega Enterprise Systems & Solutions LLC, a Chenega Professional Services' company, is looking for a Health CommunicationsSpecialist II to support the CDC's Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (CSELS) with the goal of helping to promote the center's division, program, strategies, and related materials supporting CSELS impact and work support the nation's health

Responsibilities
  • Write messages and materials related to Center priorities, including but not limited to surveillance, clinical and public health laboratory capacity, public health workforce (e.g., CDC fellowships, Epidemic Intelligence Service), rural health, public health infrastructure, and materials to promote scientific communication efforts from the center. Materials should employ plain language and risk communications principles, and be built upon formative research, if available. These materials could include, but is not limited to: website content, fact sheets, FAQs, issue briefs, infographics, social media messaging, multimedia content, or messaging for media.
  • Coordinate web content on various CSELS Office of the Director Websites, including but not limited to CDC's rural health portal, CDC's surveillance portal, CDC's Surveillance Data Platform, CSELS's homepage, and other topic-specific webpages within CSELS as needed.
  • Develop a 60-day editorial calendar for communication releases and launches in collaboration with the Center and Division Associate Director for Communications Science(s), Center policy team, and Center leadership; Implement communication plans and ensure that all tasks are completed within the timeline.
  • Provide day-to-date operations support for the Center communications, including but not limited to: reviewing communications materials to ensure accuracy, assisting in coordinating clearance, answering emails through CDC Info, and promoting CSELS programs, products, and services through CDC announcements.
  • Maintain CSELS core messages to be utilized by senior leadership for presentations and across CSELS communications materials
  • Develop messages, materials, and graphics to leverage all of the communications platforms such as: website, social media (e.g., blog, Facebook, Twitter), email listervs, partner outreach, media outreach, and mobile applications.
  • Work with CDC graphics staff or CSELS contract staff to create compelling images (infographics) that could be used for presentations, reports, website content, social media outreach, etc.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts, as well as communications professionals from other Divisions and Centers to share information and ensure effective efforts and successful collaboration. Maintain those partnerships.
  • Provide strategic support or coordination on major announcements or awareness efforts within CSELS (internal communications); collaborate with key communications, web, and media staff to successfully coordinate the dissemination.
  • Proactively identify, research, and resolve problems or issues; participate in team strategy session to discuss solutions. Proactively recommend updated strategies to improve analysis tactics and outreach efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree combined with a minimum of 3 years' experience in the field of Health Communication or health education. Preferred: Master's Degree with 2 to 4 years of experience in the field of Health Communication or health education, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Final salary determination based on skill-set, qualifications, and approved funding.
