Health And Wellness Coordinator/Risk Management

To oversee and coordinate health wellness activities and programs; to supervise, monitor and manage the City/County Fitness Facility; to implement program goals and objectives; to administer, monitor, evaluate physical assessment of City employees and/ or program participants; and to perform a variety of administrative, professional and technical tasks in support of assigned area of responsibility.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in exercise physiology, physical education, health education or a related field, plus three (3) years employee Health and Wellness or risk management program experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, valid C.P.R. certificate.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid American Heart Association Basic First Aid Instructor certificate.

• Principles and practices of physical wellness program development and implementation
• Principles and practices of CPR and first aid
• Recent developments, current literature and information related to wellness pertaining to law enforcement
• Principles and practices of exercise
• Procedures and services of a rehabilitative exercise program
• Training methods and techniques for workplace injury reduction including back injury prevention, repetitive motion disorders and related conditions
• Modern office equipment including computers
• Modern fitness and testing equipment
• Principles of report preparation
• Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and safety regulations

• Coordinate and direct wellness programs
• Conduct physical fitness assessments and evaluations
• Conduct preventative maintenance and minor repairs on exercise equipment
• Recommend and implement goals and objectives for providing wellness services
• Operate a variety of fitness testing and exercise equipment
• Conduct a variety of physical wellness tests and interpret data
• Conduct training activities in assigned areas including C.P.R., First Aid, A.E.D. and related programs
• Coordinate health awareness/fitness related events
• Operate office equipment and supporting word processing and statistical applications
• Develop and implement wellness seminars and training classes
• Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including the general public
• Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions and demonstrating intellectual capabilities
• Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities
• Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties
