Internship Summary:
Kuraray's paid internship program allows students the opportunity to obtain valuable, applicable work experience in a fast-paced, and challenging environment. The program blends real-world experience with an extensive overview of the chemical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The internship will be 13 weeks in duration for the summer of 2024 with flexible start dates. Student interns must be able to work full-time. The internship will be split between a major project and daily tasks.
No Housing will be provided as part of the internship.
The Health and Safety Intern will support ongoing initiatives at Kuraray safety and health activities.
Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of KAI Corporate and Site HSE participate and support the following:
- Initiatives on employee HSE engagement and awareness, safety meetings, auditing, and job observations.
- Collect, organize, and present specified data and documentation used for example in the analysis of trends in HSE performance, completion rates of employee HSE Training, and use of safety equipment and PPE.
- Refresh PowerPoint presentations used for safety training on Corp. learning management system.
- Non-technical update/ reformat KAI HSES Standards.
- Assist in the implementation of a software platform for the management of industrial hygiene exposure data ( IHMate ).
- Participate in related meetings and presentations.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a B.S. in Occupational, Safety, and Health
- Completed at least two years of college education before beginning internship.
- Strong academic performance minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA and extracurricular achievement.
- Demonstrated communication and leadership skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven track record of adaptability, innovation, initiative and integrity.
- Must have legal U.S. working authorization to participate in the program.
- Must successfully pass the pre-employment screening process.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
