Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lake Orion Assembly on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The selected candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Battery Assembly scheduling, including developing the tools and/or applications needed to achieve that goal. Work is performed in a collaborative team environment, consisting of daily interactions with plant engineering, process, maintenance, operations, and a multitude of others. Successfully launching this new product will also require a considerable amount of creativity, personal initiative & independent judgment.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Create & maintain data analysis tools necessary to accomplish scheduling activities
Develop weekly operating plan based on customer requirements and plant production plan
Understand any significant changes and communicate as appropriate
Ensure processes are in place to comply with GM Global Manufacturing System elements and processes
Update inventory management systems with daily & weekly build schedule details.
Maintain production calendars
Ensure daily build schedule is populated for Battery Assembly
Collaborate with Module Production Leads to develop scheduling process for Module Assembly
Track & report on build-to-plan conformance metrics
Manage inventory banking levels and obsolete/inactive flags as appropriate
Coordinate part counting & reconciling activities, including finished batteries & components
Maintain flexibility regarding job scope in a dynamic product launch environment
Must be willing to work off shifts and extended hours from time to time
Position requires strong computer/systems aptitude and interface with a cross-functional team of stakeholders
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Must be able to work overtime and off-shift as needed
3 years industry experience with material or production scheduling
Experience with inventory physical counts and/or audits
Demonstrated level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues
Ability to manage multiple, complex projects with a high level of autonomy and accountability for results
Effectively deals with ambiguity and copes well with change
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Ability to use standard business application software and/or specialized data analysis tools, with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
3+ years industry experience with material or production scheduling
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
Experience converting customer requirements into a production build schedule
Experience converting a production build schedule into a supplier ship schedule
Experience with reconciliation of inventory physical count to system count
GM Lean Manufacturing Strategy knowledge and implementation experience
Knowledge and/or experience in the General Motors Material Replenishment Systems for components (MGOC)
Thorough understanding of supply chain concepts & principles
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
Ability to demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills and styles to work effectively with the plant’s business partners, union workforce and supply base
Knowledge of and coaching experiences in Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS)
Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects effectively and efficiently
