Job Description
Experienced groundskeeper is needed for Assistant Grounds Supervisor role in Portland, OR! You will lead, train, and work with the grounds team to perform a wide variety of grounds and sports field maintenance on our landscaped campus, which includes:
- Leading and performing routine grounds maintenance tasks
- Assuming lead role of team in the absence of the Grounds Supervisor
- Training and performing pruning, gardening, mowing, minor repairs, integrated pest control, waste removal, reporting of conditions, and other work as required
- Operating and maintaining tools and equipment of the landscape trade, including but not limited to tractors, mowers, golf carts, snow removal equipment, and hand tools.
- Monitoring irrigation schedules and watering requirements and leading repairs of irrigation/main line systems
- Clearing hard surfaces including pavement, sidewalks, and roofs in all weather and include clearing debris, snow, and ice
- Performing work as essential personnel in inclement weather
Pay and Benefits: $29-34/hour, dental and disability insurance, generous time off policy
Qualifications:
- At least five years’ experience in commercial/institutional landscaping
- At least one year leading a work crew, preferably on a large campus or institution
- Knowledge to care for athletic fields, lawns, shrubs, and trees
- Expert operation of tractors, cultivators, edgers, power mowers, pruners, and other equipment used in grounds maintenance
- Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping
- ODA Commercial Pesticide Applicators License with a School Integrated Pest Management category required by time of employment or ability to attain within the first 90 days of employment
- Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License and have safe driving record
- Bilingual capabilities a plus
