SUMMARY: Assist with all aspects of grounds maintenance throughout City Park.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED):
• Operates City Park equipment including but not limited to vehicles, small garden tractors, small engine machines, zero-turn mowers, and other equipment necessary
• Mowing, edging, weed eating, and blowing of all assigned areas
• Spraying of herbicides
• Willingness to learn and be trained on larger equipment used in grounds maintenance
• Pickup and removal of all loose paper and debris in assigned area
• Removal of all debris, including tree branches, tires, dead animals, furniture, car parts, and any other unwanted debris that is left on park grounds.
• Reporting of graffiti, large debris, or other unwanted items on park grounds so they are immediately addressed
• Cleaning and maintenance of equipment and tools used throughout the daily course of work
• Cleaning of drains and catch basins
• Assisting other team members and departments as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• High School diploma or GED and three (3) years related experience.
• A valid Louisiana driver’s license.

Machinery/Tools/Equipment Requirements: Must be familiar with using lawnmowers, weed eaters, aerators, pressure washers, chainsaws, pruning equipment, blowers, sprayers, edgers, basic landscaping tools, and be able to operate utility vehicles.
Physical Requirements:
• This position is a physically demanding one. This job requires 100% working out in the elements, so the ability to withstand hot, humid summers and cold, wet winters is a must.
• You must be a team player and be able to interact well with others within the department, as well as staff from other departments. Good communication is important within the team.
• This job requires the ability to pick up items weighing up to 75 lbs.
• Must be able to operate power equipment in varying degrees of temperatures for long periods of time.
• Regular talking and the ability to express and exchange ideas by means of language expected.
• Regular hearing and the ability to perceive the nature of sounds.
• Ability to read and write required.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
• Working long hours between breaks or meals required.
• Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required.
• May be exposed to high, medium, or low noise intensity.
• Constant contact with co-workers required.
Contact with guests is expected to be courteous and respectful.
• This position requires exposure to the elements and dirty conditions.
• Understanding safe practices are essential in order to minimize unsafe working conditions. Use of safety gear required.
